Daily Five

I hope your child has talked to you about Daily Five!  It's how we organize literacy instruction at Riverside.

Daily Five is a way to develop independence in reading while developing critical reading skills.

Every day, we have a brief whole class mini-lesson followed by a "round" where I meet with a small group for leveled reading instruction.  While I'm meeting with groups, students are participating in their own literacy activities including reading to self, reading to someone, working on writing, working on spelling words, or listening to reading.

After the "round", we have another mini-lesson followed by another "round".  This happens three times total each day.

We LOVE Daily Five in our classroom!
